There can be no denying the fact that notwithstanding all the social oratory of equal rights and opportunities, women are still discriminated against at all levels in our society. At their home, hey are discriminated as being inferior to he male members of the family. Sons invariably get precedence over daughters, and wives have to play second fiddle to their husbands. At workplaces, they are exploited, and at all public places, they are teased and molested. They are kidnapped, raped and even killed. They are tortured mentally as well as physically for the sake of dowry. And now they are being killed in the mothers womb itself.
All this has to change because no society can hope to progress if half of its population is kept opposed, repressed and exploited. Winds of change have already begun to blow and women have started clamouring for their rights. They have proved that if given a chance, hey are not less than men in any way and in any field. Our prime Minister's slogan of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao"echoes both the cause and the remedy of gender discrimination in our society.
